Sensei Tom

Nidan

D.O.B  16/04/1991

I became interested in martial arts at the age of 9 after watching many Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee films and wanting to follow in the footsteps of my idols. Coincidentally, at the height of my interest, a man came knocking on my door advertising a local Shotokan karate club, which I didn’t hesitate to join. After about a year of training I moved on to join Bushido Karate-Jitsu in order to develop my skills further. In 2004 I joined the BKJ tournament team where I competed all over the country for honours in kata, weapons kata and sparring. After success at the national championships I was selected for the WKA England team and was given the opportunity to compete for them worldwide.  I went on to achieve my Shodan in 2005 and progressed to Nidan in 2007. At the age of 18 I became an instructor within the club as I enjoy passing on my knowledge to others and watching their skills develop.

Since starting off as a Bruce Lee wannabe I have not only developed my physical ability, but have also significantly improved my confidence and awareness. I have also learnt a great deal with regards to discipline and respect.
