Bushido Club Syllabus
This syllabus is by no means set! We reserve the right to change this depending on the needs of the Students.
A class last`s normally 1½ hours and consists of:
Bow as you enter or leave the dojo/training hall.
This shows respect & willingness to train hard to everybody.
It is also showing respect and is part of the ettiquette of training in a traditional dojo. (see document Click the Dragon!)
A Warm-up
(this will ensure that all muscle groups are warm/helps prevent injury).
Kihon
(These are the basic fundamental techniques of any Martial art and practice of these gives the student both an outer and inner strength, these are also practised in Combinations).
Uke-Waza (Blocking techniques although given the title of blocking, many of the Uke techniques are a lot more than this.
There are NO blocks in karate, in the literal sense.
Tsuki (Punching/striking techniques)
Geri (Kicking techniques)
Uchi-Waza (Striking techniques)
Ne-Waza (Groundwork techniques)
Ukemi-Waza (Break falling techniques)
Kata, (Pre arranged pattern techniques against imaginary opponents
Kihon Kata (Taikiyoku Shodan)
Heian Katas:- Shodan, Sandan, Godan.
Saifa Bassai-Dai Seiunchin Empi Sepai Kanku-Dai Sanseru Jion Jitte Hangetsu Kururunfa
Weapon Kata 2nd Dan and above. (to be derived from Known kata)
Kata Bunkai is left to the students to work on as we believe bunkai is down to the individuals interpretetion and can only be shown as such.There are NO secrets in Kata everything outside the moves is purely self interpretation, its what any individual makes of it.
Kumite (Sparring skills)
Reaction/ Sensitivity Drills
Set Combinations
Free Combinations (3rd kyu and above)
Kick Pads and Focus mitts training
Grappling (controlled) by supervision.
Stretching.
Drills & Games for the Everyone to make the ending of the session fun for everyone, also a way of increasing the heart rate as you did at the start of class.
